FAQ

How long are sessions?

All sessions are 55 minutes incorporating a blend of classical and contemporary techniques on different studio Pilates apparatus (Reformer, Cadillac or Tower, Wunda Chair or High Chair) following the philosophy of Joseph Pilates and custom tailored to your goals and needs.

How should I prepare for my first Pilates session?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your first session to discuss your needs and goals. You are welcome to do the session barefoot or with grip socks—whichever you prefer. Please wear loose or stretchy clothing that you can move comfortably in. Feel free to bring your water bottle; your shoes and other items can be placed in the studio lockers. If you have any injuries, limitations, or special needs, please communicate ahead of your session to allow for modifications. Postnatal clients must have clearance from their medical professional to return to Pilates.

Where are you located?

I typically reserve space at Core Pilates NYC in the Flatiron district of Manhattan (900 Broadway at 20th Street, Suite 603, New York City 10003), but can accommodate home or building studios. I can also work with clients for virtual mat and apparatus sessions at a discounted rate.

Can I bring my phone?

Focus is a key component in Pilates to establish a mind-body connection. Use your session to disconnect and maximize the benefit of your time. Having your phone nearby is OK so long as it is on silent as to not disturb other clients in the studio.

Can I take photos or record audio/video content?

Permission to take photos, audio, or videos must be requested and expressly obtained ahead of your session to ensure that there are no other clients included, with any approved media captured at the beginning or end of the session. No photos, audio or videos taken in the studio may be used for the promotion or marketing of any services unauthorized or for any commercial reason.

Studio Policies

What are your participation policies?

Private Pilates training is open to any clients ages 18+. Any injuries must be cleared by your doctor or physical therapist and disclosed at time of booking to ensure the program can be adequately adjusted to fit your needs.

Pre- and postnatal clients are welcome and should inform at time of booking to help modify your Pilates practice for your specific needs. Postnatal clients must have clearance from their medical professional to return to Pilates.

All clients must sign a liability waiver, which may be obtained ahead of the session by emailing pilatesxcarly@gmail.com. Clients who refuse to sign a waiver will be unable to participate in private training and may be subject to a loss of session if not adhering to the 24-hour cancellation policy (see below).

Please note that sessions begin promptly on the hour and cannot be extended for late arrivals to be respectful of studio space and availability.

What is your booking policy?

Sessions must be paid for at time of booking to secure space and teacher availability, which may be valid until the expiration date from purchase—check before purchasing. Payment may be submitted via Zelle or PayPal and are non-refundable. All sales are final.

Clients are subject to a strict 24-hour change/cancellation policy (see below). Early cancellations prior to 24 hours may be applied as credit towards a future session that must be used within the expiration time frame from original purchase.

What is your change, cancellation, and no-show policy?

Once you find a mutually agreed upon appointment time(s), it is expected that you will be present for your scheduled appointments. Any cancellations under 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full fee of the session to align with reserved studio policies and be respectful of the teacher's time. Most studios will not reimburse late cancelations for reservations, so if you late cancel, I late cancel, and none of us get refunded.

Changes or cancellations made within 24 hours from the start of reservation are not allowed and will be treated as a late cancellation and subject to loss of session. Late arrivals after 20 minutes that are not properly communicated will be treated as a no-show and subject to loss of session. Early cancellations prior to 24 hours may be applied as credit towards a future session that must be used within the expiration time frame from original purchase.

Of course, needing to reschedule or cancel a session happens - after all, life can sometimes get in the way of our best intentions. With advanced notice, I will absolutely try to find another time to reschedule sessions within the week. Remember your teacher holds this time specifically for you to be ready and focused on you every week at that time.

What if I'm sick?

For the safety of our community and fellow instructors, please do not attend your 1-1 session if you are sick. Cancellations due to illness are still subject to the 24-hour policy and cannot be refunded. If you are unsure, please wear a mask.

What is your refund policy?

There are no refunds unless a sessions is cancelled by PilatesxCarly. All sales final. Packages must be used within the listed time frame—check before purchasing. Early cancellations prior to 24 hours will be issued a credit towards a future session. PilatesxCarly further reserves the right to refuse sales to any client based on sharing; frequent cancellations and refunds; abuse of package or purchased options; failure to pay; or for any reason at the discretion of instructor. Disrespectful conduct including verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying or discrimination will not be tolerated and may result in a request to immediately leave the studio without refund.
